Research Trail

Research log

A public record of the questions, source selection, rejected evidence, decision criteria, and update conditions behind this article.

Research Instruction

Explain male nipples through biology, physics, mathematics, cultural anthropology, and philosophy, and trace their treatment in art through original sources. Preserve the accessible form of a general Web article while retaining scholarly qualifications. This article is the art history installment of that investigation.

Environment

The model value above is fixed compatibility metadata required by repository checks, not a verified record of the model that wrote the article. The prompt link identifies a publication workflow reference, rather than the exact conversational instruction used here.

Investigation and editing

Earlier source files, authored articles, and mathematical-model records were cross-checked. The integrated explanation and art history installment were separated, with original-source links placed near important claims. English was synchronized to the canonical Japanese article, and reading alignments were derived from the finished text.

General mathematical models remain distinct from measured results. Object materials and dates, scholarly interpretations, and artists’ statements are treated as different kinds of evidence. Full source reproductions, superseded drafts, and private working logs are excluded from publication.

Verification scope and remaining limits

Publication verification covers equations and figures, source-link placement, language correspondence, and links between supporting pages. No independent human peer review or translation review is claimed. This publication pass is neither a new systematic review nor a reanalysis of original studies. The source notes retain the limitations of abstract-only material, a comparison treated as unreviewed, and museum sources that could not be directly archived.

Figure addition

On October 21, 2026, nine images and eleven figures were added in both languages so readers can inspect the works beside the discussion. Figures address whole statues and chest details, Kannon’s ornaments, photographic framing, filmed contact, template wording, and exhibition context.

The shared ArticleFigure component supplies responsive local images, preserved image ratios, alternative text, captions, source credits, and rights labels. Postbuild validation now checks image files and responsive variants, dimensions, captions, credits, and rights. Detail views crop the display without generating reconstructed features or changing colors. The Met image conditions were checked in this pass; this is recorded separately from the earlier inability to archive some source texts.
